Dorewood celebrates100 years of The WI

Dorewood Celebrates
100 years of the WI

To honour this milestone, Dorewood requested the bellringers of St Giles' Church, Main Street, Balderton to ring a quarter peal.  The peal, Southwell Surprise Major, started at 4:15pm and lasted 40 minutes.  Dorewood member and campanologist, Beryl Reed (arrowed) took part in the ringing.

Screening of the National Federation of WIs Centenary Annual Meeting from the Royal Albert Hall in London on 4th June 2015.  Newark Palace WI have invited members of the Newark Castle Group of WIs of which Dorewood is a part, to watch the screening of the NFWI Centenary Annual Meeting at the Salvation Army Centre, Mead Way, Balderton, NG24 3GA.  Admission is free. Members can come and go at any time during the day.  The screening starts at 10:30am with a break for lunch, 12:45pm approx to 2:15pm, and continues to 5:00pm approx.  Dorewood is doing the catering, tea or coffee .50p, cake £1.00, served all day, a cream tea £2.50 will be available in the afternoon.  If you're staying all day, please bring a packed lunch.

The Centenary Baton Comes
to Dorewood

Dorewood's President, Ann, receives the Centenary Baton from Newark Palace WI President, Shirley and Secretary, Glenda.  Shirley is dressed in clothes of a century ago, including a family heirloom skirt more than 100 years old.

Ann, Pauline and Rose went to County House, Newark for the day to learn how to set up this, our very own website.  We will be able to share all our news and photos with you and tell you about our forthcoming events and activities.
